Kilmardinny Nursery Policies

No Smoking:
Smoking is not permitted in the surrounding environment. Both parents and staff are asked to respect this rule

Attendance:
Although there is no statutory attendance procedures in pre-five establishments you are asked to ensure that your child attends nursery regularly. If your child is absent please phone us and let us know the reason for his/her absence.

Sickness:
If a child is in contact with an infectious illness, i.e. chicken pox or conjunctivitis the child can only resume attendance to nursery when they are no longer infectious.

Toys and Food:
Can parents/children not bring toys or food to nursery without informing a member of staff.

Arrival and Collection of Children:
It is expected that a responsible adult will bring your child to and from nursery. In the interests of your child’s safety you should make a point of telling a member of staff if he/she is to be collected by someone known to them. This avoids difficult situation when a child cannot be allowed to leave with an adult who is a stranger to the staff.

Fire Drills:
Drills are carried out on a monthly basis

Meals:
A hot meal is provided at lunchtime. Special dietary meals are catered for. If your child has any allergies please inform nursery immediately

Snacks and the promotion of Healthy Eating:
Your child will be provided with snacks. It is our aim to promote healthy eating by encouraging children to eat this type of food rather than sweets. However, when a child has a birthday there may be a departure from the normal snack.

Oral Health:
Children will brush their teeth after eating. Great care is taken to ensure all children brush their teeth in accordance with guidelines issued by East Dunbartonshire and NHS Trust

Nursery Photographs:
Parents will be informed when a photographer will be at the nursery. Staffs endeavour to take photographs of the children during the nursery day. This is to promote the curriculum and to provide evidence to Care Commission and Inspectorate bodies. Parents are able to look at these photographs during the nursery hours. They are displayed at the parent’s notice board.

Excursions and Consent Forms:
When outings or excursions are planned, the owner or a member of staff will advise you in advance. You will be asked to complete consent forms, which give your permission for your child’s participation. Please note that children cannot take part in outings unless a completed consent form has been submitted by their parent/guardian.

Emergency Closure Arrangements:
The nursery will be opened on the times outlined, but on some occasions circumstances arise which means the nursery has to close. Establishments may be affected by, for example, severe weather, transport problems, power failures or difficulty with fuel supplies. If this happens we will let you know details of closure and re-opening. We will keep in touch by telephone.

Emergency Contacts:
Parents whose children attend nursery are asked, where possible, to provide the establishment with names, addresses and telephone numbers of two people fr use in case of emergency. You are also asked to keep the nursery informed as to changes in this information.
